Do you have a passion for mobiles and gadgets? Do you love spending time with them? If yes, then it would be great to own a business of selling mobiles and gadgets!
I hope, you posses an entrepreneurial spirit and when I say “selling mobiles and gadgets”, you don’t immediately decide it as a big or small business. Because no real entrepreneur sees any business idea as small or big. They consider that any business idea can be taken to the next big level, no matter how big or small it already is.
So, here is a simple yet unique business idea I’m going to share taking into account some opportunities that exist with mobiles and gadgets.
I’m from India and when I talk of business ideas, I generally do have the Indian market in mind. Indian handset market is steadily growing year by year. Without any doubt, India is one of the top target markets for many big mobile companies. The cell phone is not just a device for communication now. It’s a part of people’s lifestyle. The average time of usage of a new mobile has come down and consumers buy new handsets that come with upgraded and attractive features and functions. It’s been a trend!
Moreover, the growing internet user-base is leading to more usage of cell phones with internet connectivity. As found in Wikipedia, India has the world’s third largest internet user-base as of June 2012. It’s a whooping 137 million users!
These facts alone can push anyone to start a small retail business of selling mobile phones in India. You might think that that’s a business you find in every nook and corner and there’s nothing new. If it’s so, don’t stop reading!
Well, the business idea I’m sharing is a combination of 3 ideas! Of course, some skills would be required to consider all of them. But as you love mobiles and gadgets, you’ll learn everything by time.
I’m not going to explain this much. My point is: starting a retail store for mobiles and gadgets like laptops, tablets, cameras, related accessories, etc. can be very lucrative. Of course, most of these are costlier products and hence you’ll need a healthy investment to kick-start this business. Or, may be you can reduce the cost of investment by starting it small. Yes, I know there are many such stores in your city, but with the next two ideas in place, you can prove this wrong too!
Give your retail store an another revenue stream by setting up an online store. Don’t you think, doing it successfully will give you an edge over your competitors? Certainly, it will! Setting up an online store is not a big task these days. You don’t even need a web-designer to do this. Everything comes handy these days. For instance, you can register your domain name and buy a hosting package from top hosting companies like Hostgator and install an e-commerce software you like.
Alternatively, you may also go with hosted platforms for online stores where you can easily set-up an online store after signing up for an affordable monthly/yearly fee. Read this: 6 Places To Easily Create Your Online Store By Yourself.
Marketing of the online store would be crucial as this is one of the sharpest weapons for business success. Depending on your targeted location, start your marketing activities both online and offline. Ah! I must also tell you that the physical store would be a great place to create awareness for your online store.
If you know enough about blogging, you might have come across many bloggers who are earning just by writing about mobiles and gadgets explaining their features and benefits. The earnings come from advertisements through ad networks, paid reviews, private advertising, etc.
Can blogging be attached with the idea?
This would work well since you’ll have all the resources to write about. When your blog becomes popular, you can start doing paid reviews of products too.
Blogging is an evolving necessity for businesses and oneday it will become a must-have for every business. So, it’s better to involve in blogging from now on and get prepared strongly for the competition that’s coming close day-by-day.
The blog can also be integrated with the online store if needed!
Did you like the combination of the three ideas?
Even if this business is not for you, please feel free to express your views. I know that writing an idea is easy but to actually put it into action is tough. You might find many complicacies in the idea. Share them in comments to make it a better business idea!
