Blogging has become a popular trend among the cyber savvy people. It has proved to be an effective way of making a passive income for many part-time bloggers. You must have even heard news of people quitting their job to make full-time career into blogging.

But…

Do you think everybody can make money from blogging?

May be ‘No’.

Research shows that more than 90% of blogs fail to make money. Huh!

The reasons for this are many and the most important one is lack of visitors/readers. A blog can only be monetized if it has a decent number of readers following up.

Good writing skill is not the only requisite to create a successful blog. Blogging is a vast subject that again has many chapters and they all need to be learnt and applied to create a blog that brings visitors.

Well, I’m not going to write about everything that you’ll need to know to create a successful blog. Whatever written above is just to remind you that blogging is not easy and it requires learning, patience and continuity just like other professions.

(Not apply to those whose hobby is writing, who use blogging as a platform just to present their writings, thoughts, who are not concerned about making an income from blogging)

As the post title says, here I’m going to share one important thing you’ll need to consider to start your blog – the blog idea, the blog topic, the blog subject, or whatever you name it.

Actually, many of my friends want to start their own blog and they have been asking me to give them good ideas specially some niche blog ideas. Generally, I tell them to start on a subject they are familiar with or on something of their hobbies and interests. But, of late, I went deep into the matter and found that getting a good blog idea is difficult. Many aspiring bloggers struggle to start their blog just because they can’t find what to blog about.

So, I spent a couple of days thinking and researching to find out a way that anybody can apply to choose a suitable blog idea that has the power to make money. And let me tell you truly – My time didn’t go in waste. I have something useful to share now. I’m sure you’ll find or generate a blog idea for yourself after completely going through this post.

What To Blog? Research And Blog

What do you draw from this heading “Research and Blog”?

Until and unless you are an expert in a particular field, it is the belief of many, that you can’t start blogging professionally. According to me, this is only partially true. You need not be an expert but you need to find the perfect niche you are going to blog about. You need to find out whom you are going to write for – Your Target Audience. But of course, being an expert gives you an edge over the others.

The idea I want to share is simple – Start exploring a particular niche topic/subject/market and start blogging about it. That’s what I mean by “Research and Blog”.

Not all bloggers you see out there are experts. They are people like me and you, who focus on a particular topic, do research, practically apply them, learn, and then present them in their blogs. And interestingly, they are making money by doing this. The basic idea is to grow your blog by learning.

Let me tell you one secret:

One reason why many blogs can’t attract readers is because they don’t define a specific niche. They post anything they find interesting without focusing on a particular group of audience. Gone are the days when there was less competition in the blogging world and people successfully started blogging on broad range of subjects. But now, it’s the time to choose a very specific audience. It’s the time of niche blogging.

Finding Niche Blog Ideas

Just as I mentioned somewhere above that blogging is a vast subject which has many chapters in it, in the same way, any other category can be broken down into many sub-categories or specialized categories, and these sub-categories into various topics.

To minimize competition and target a specific audience, you should choose one special niche category.

For example:

Say, you are interested in marketing and want to start a blog. But marketing is a huge subject and there are numerous blogs on marketing and the competition is very stiff. So, it’s better to break marketing into its different aspects and choose only one for blogging. Now you have options such as advertising, online marketing, offline marketing, etc. Even these types can again be sliced into different components. For example, under online marketing, we may have email marketing, social media marketing, affiliate marketing, SEO (search engine optimization), etc.

This is how you can find your specific niche.

You may also take the help of Google Keyword Research Tool to get insights on what people are looking for on the web in any specific niche.

After deciding your niche, apply the idea – Research and Blog. Explore your niche, research, find problems, and then write informative articles. You need not be an expert to do this. But continuing with it would certainly make you an expert in that niche.

I must also mention that it’s difficult to find a totally untapped niche. Everywhere there is competition. The trick is to settle down with one that is less targeted by other bloggers.

The internet is big and there are many things in it which people want to know and learn. Based on this, I want to share 3 niche blog ideas so that it helps you to think and come up with your own.

To carry on with these ideas, you’ll need to put your efforts into research and learning and the zeal to continue.

Niche Blog Idea #1

A blog related to Youtube: We all know that millions of people visit Youtube everyday. Can you create a blog and bring a portion of this huge Youtube audience? Yes, you can. Youtube is a big platform and there are many things to know and learn about it. Start researching this platform and post informative articles that would benefit both viewers and video up-loaders in using Youtube. Create your own channel and find problems and difficulties and come up with your own solutions. Not only this, there could be many other related things which can form part of your blog such as news in online video industry, software/apps related to Youtube, etc.

Niche Blog Idea #2

A blog related to Facebook: I had already talked about this idea in one of my earlier posts on website ideas, but it needs a place in this post too. Facebook is another platform visited by millions everyday. There are, even, many companies that offer various services to Facebook users. Create a blog for Facebook users and post articles on everything that relates to Facebook. There are also some bloggers who only blog about Facebook marketing and they are doing it big.

A blog related to Email: Yes, email can also be the subject of your blog if you really put your head into it. You might not know but email services have lots of interesting features other than just composing and mailing. Moreover, many people don’t know how to use the features in email such as creating email signature, etc. There are variety of email service providers apart from Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc. Some of them even pay for receiving mails, some allows to send big files, some provides you disposable email addresses, etc. So, can’t you start a blog where you’ll be tracking this industry and write useful articles and tutorials?

The above ideas are only a glimpse. I wanted to bring out some niche blog ideas which anybody can start by applying the technique of “Research and Blog”. I think the above three are possible with that. But, you should be able to generate your own ideas now. These ideas are online-based, you should think of offline-based ideas too.

Remember, people search for useful information and solutions to their problems. Your aim should be to help them through your blog. Don’t judge any problem as big or small because every problem is big until there is a solution.
